PE Stamp & Engineering Review

Dos Santos Engineering provides independent engineering review and professional engineer (PE) stamping services for structural and mechanical drawings, calculations, and lift plans at industrial facilities.

Many industrial projects — plant modifications, equipment installations, rigging and lift operations, structural additions, and permit applications — require PE-stamped engineering documentation before work can proceed. DSE's licensed professional engineers can review drawings and calculations prepared by your team or your contractor, provide a thorough independent engineering assessment, and issue a PE stamp where the work meets applicable codes and standards.

Services Offered

Structural Drawing Review and PE Stamp

Independent engineering review and professional engineer stamp of structural drawings for platforms, access structures, conveyor supports, monorails, equipment support frames, transfer towers, building structures, and other steel structures at industrial facilities. DSE reviews submitted drawings against applicable codes and standards, may request revisions or supplementary calculations, and issues a PE stamp upon satisfactory completion of review.

Lift Plan Review and PE Stamp

Engineering review and professional engineer stamp of rigging and lift plans for single lifts or repetitive lift programs at industrial facilities. DSE reviews load path analysis, rigging geometry, sling and hardware sizing, and support structure adequacy. This is one of DSE's most frequently requested standalone services — many industrial maintenance teams and contractors have lift plans developed internally or by a rigging contractor that require an independent PE stamp before the lift can proceed.

Calculation Review and Verification

Independent review and verification of structural or mechanical calculations submitted by a client or their contractor. DSE reviews the methodology, assumptions, load cases, and results against applicable codes and engineering practice, and provides a written assessment. Where calculations are found to be adequate, a PE stamp may be issued.

Conveyor Engineering Review

Review of conveyor design calculations, tension and power analysis, structural engineering, and related documentation. DSE's deep expertise in conveyor engineering makes this a particularly valuable service for clients who need an independent engineering check of conveyor system design or modification work — including review of analyses performed using standard CEMA methods or other analysis tools.

Building and Structure Permits

PE-stamped engineering documentation for permit applications involving structural work at industrial facilities, in multiple states. DSE can prepare or review the engineering documentation required to support a building permit application and provide the licensed PE stamp required by the relevant jurisdiction.

Multi-State Licensure

DSE's principal engineer, Joseph A. Dos Santos, P.E., holds professional engineering licenses in multiple states, allowing DSE to stamp drawings and calculations for projects across a broad geographic area. Contact DSE to confirm PE licensure coverage for your specific project location.

How the Review Process Works

PE stamp engagements typically follow a straightforward process:

  1. Submission. The client submits drawings, calculations, or a lift plan to DSE, along with relevant project background — facility information, equipment involved, applicable codes, and any site-specific constraints.
  2. Initial review. DSE engineers review the submitted documentation against applicable codes, standards, and sound engineering practice. If questions or concerns arise, DSE will contact the client to discuss.
  3. Revision cycle (if needed). If the review identifies deficiencies, DSE provides specific written comments. The submitting party revises and resubmits. This cycle continues until the documentation is found to be adequate.
  4. Stamp issuance. Upon satisfactory completion of review, DSE issues the PE stamp on the drawings or calculations. Stamped documents are returned to the client electronically.

Turnaround time depends on the scope and complexity of the review. DSE understands that industrial projects often operate on tight schedules and works to accommodate reasonable timeline requirements — contact us early to discuss scheduling.

Independent Review

DSE's PE stamp services are independent. We review submitted work on its merits against applicable codes and standards, and we provide honest engineering feedback — including when revisions are needed before a stamp can be issued. Clients receive thorough, defensible engineering review, not a rubber stamp.

This independence also means DSE can review and stamp work that was developed by another engineering firm, by an in-house engineering team, or by a contractor — there is no requirement that DSE have been involved in the original design.

Typical Clients for This Service

DSE's PE stamp and engineering review service is most frequently used by:

  • Industrial maintenance departments that have developed internal lift plans or structural designs and need independent PE review and stamp
  • Rigging and specialty contractors who need a PE stamp on lift plans before a client will authorize a lift
  • Engineering contractors who need a licensed PE in a specific state to stamp drawings for a permit application
  • Plant engineers who have developed or procured conveyor modification drawings and need independent engineering verification before proceeding
  • Operations teams at power plants, terminals, mining operations, and industrial facilities who need a PE stamp on structural work associated with a maintenance outage or plant modification
